Claire Buchanan
Senior Speech Pathologist
Claire trained at the University of Sheffield in the UK and then worked in Yorkshire for close to a decade as part of the National Health Service (NHS) before recently relocating to Australia. Her career with the NHS spanned two different trusts, working in a variety of school and clinical situations as a highly specialist team leader.
Born and raised in the UK, in 2024 she made the move to the Sutherland Shire to be close to her husband’s family and enjoy the Australian weather. Claire has worked in a range of clinical areas and settings and has been a specialist in Speech Sound Disorders, Language Disorders, Stuttering, Selective Mutism and Autism. In recent years, Claire has developed a special interest in embracing neurodiversity and assisting young people and their communities to accept and develop their independence skills through achievable targets. She loves working across ages from babies to teens.
Claire prioritises providing child-centred, evidence-based practice balancing this with the pressures of family life, making therapy achievable and practical. Now having her own young family, this has helped her further understands the challenges that parents face.
When she’s not working, Claire enjoys cooking, reading and watching road cycling.
