Tahlee is our Art Psychotherapist at Kids Inspired. She completed her Bachelor of Art Psychotherapy degree with Ikon Institute in 2022 and is registered with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA). Tahlee previously has four years of experience working with children in before and after-school care settings which has developed her passion for supporting children and adolescents. Tahlee completed her final student placement with Kids Inspired between May and August 2022, and then officially joined the Kids Inspired as an Art Psychotherapist in September 2022.
Tahlee is passionate about utilising her art psychotherapy skills working with children and young people to develop their emotional, social, physical and psychological wellbeing. She believes that art and creativity are powerful methods to create space for therapeutic change. Tahlee takes a client-centred approach keeping in mind the needs and goals of the young person and their family so that effective growth can take place.
In August 2024 Tahlee completed AutPlay Therapy training with Dr Robert Grant, from Springfield, Minnesota. AutPlay is designed to be a neurodiversity affirming framework for for implementing play therapy, with a focus on address the mental health and adaptive functioning needs of neurodivergent children and adolescents through a neurodiversity affirming approach. This training has enhanced Tahlee’s work with our neurodivergent clients who lean towards a more play based approach in their psychotherapy sessions. It is a child lead approach that allows clients the space and freedom to guide their sessions, while aiming to incorporate the core change agents of the therapeutic powers of play. This framework works well to fit the therapy to the client, not make the client fit the therapy!
Outside of work Tahlee likes to be creative with watercolours, collage and cooking and enjoys going for walks in the bush or along the beach to recharge!
